Community Neighborhood Housing Services (CNHS) is a HUD approved non-profit FREE counseling service provider. Our professionally trained counselors provide, free, one-on-one counseling to potential homebuyers and homeowners seeking assistance with financial management, home purchase, mortgage refinance, second mortgages, home improvement loans or foreclosure.

CNHS counselors and educators attend training throughout the year at the NeighborWorks Training Institute (NTI). NTI has set the national standard for home buyer education and is recognized as the industry leader for its rigorous curriculum and testing in the community development field.

Pre-purchase Counseling

Find out if you are ready or not to purchase your first home. Set up a free appointment with our pre-purchase counselor to look at your credit and find ways to improve it if needed. Review also how to budget and savings strategies that will make buying a home easy.

Our counselors can recommend experienced real estate agents that keep first time home buyers needs in mind, as well as resources to loan officers and various loan programs throughout the Twin Cities, including down payment assistance.

HomeStretch Workshops

Our eight-hour HomeStretch Class is one of the best ways to get the knowledge you need to purchase a home without getting ripped off. Our class will give you the confidence to make the right decision when it comes to one of the biggest purchases of your life. Classes are offered in Spanish, Hmong and English at least three times a month. With the certificate of completion, you will be given discounts on your mortgage insurance and access to some of the best first time home buyer loan programs in the state!
